The principle
Strawberry Quest is a set of articles. There is no account to create, no newsletter to join, no comment form and no login for readers, so the ordinary way to use this site involves giving us nothing at all. This page describes what still gets collected anyway, and what we do with it.
What is collected when you read a page
- Server logs. Our hosting and the network in front of it record standard request data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page, browser and operating system string. This is how any web server works, and it is used for keeping the site up and dealing with abuse.
- Analytics. We use analytics to see which entries get read and how people arrive. It tells us that a page about wagering requirements is popular; it does not tell us who you are, and we do not try to connect it to a named person.
- Cookies and similar storage. Cookies may be set for analytics and for basic site function. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and the site will still work — nothing here is gated behind a cookie.
Email you send us
If you write to [email protected], we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to deal with it, plus a reasonable period for reference if it led to a correction. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list. As the contact page says, please do not send identity documents, account numbers or payment details — if you do, we will delete them rather than file them.
Third parties
Following an outbound link to a gambling operator takes you onto their site, under their privacy policy, not ours. Some of those links are commercial and may pass a referral identifier that tells the operator we sent you; that identifier is about the referral, and we receive no personal information about you or your account in return. Our disclosure page covers the commercial side of that relationship. Pages may also embed content from third parties such as a video host, and an embed can set its own cookies once it loads.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not rent or trade contact details. We do not build advertising profiles of readers, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the legal gambling age in their province — this site is written for adults.
Deletion and questions
To ask what we hold about you, or to have correspondence deleted, email [email protected] with enough detail to find the message. We will action deletion requests for material we control. Server logs and third-party analytics records expire on their own retention schedules, which we do not individually control, and we will say so rather than promise otherwise.
Honest limits of this page
This is a description of what we actually do, not a compliance certification. We are not claiming formal certification under any particular privacy framework, and we would rather state our practice plainly than list statutes we have not been audited against. If our practice changes, this page changes with it, and the “last reviewed” date at the top of the page is the one to check.
